At Elvie, we push hard for the better health and wellbeing of women and we’re passionate about smashing societal taboos. I’ve personally experienced the angst of breastfeeding in public; it can be deeply uncomfortable and make you feel unwelcome. It’s about time we change this and we need to reposition our attitudes from seeing it as a ‘women’s issue’ to a societal one.Our research shows that breastfeeding women are crying out for clearer signage on public transport in order to feel more welcome and supported. As part of this campaign, we have shared our findings and called on Transport for London to review their current priority seating signs. We say to all public transport operators; do better to help drive change. With the help of new technology, pumping on the go has also never been easier, and we want to remind women that they are absolutely free to breastfeed and pump whenever, wherever they want - It’s time society caught up with that.#WorldBreastfeedingWeek2024

We can't keep skirting around the word Vagina.Women's bodies aren't men's to trivialise; women have vaginas. That's not a political statement, nor is it a sexual one. It's a biological fact.I spoke to the founder of Daye, Valentina Milanova 🇺🇦, this month about busting taboos and turning the narrative around women's health and bodies on its head in order to bring about CHANGE.Listen here 👉 https://lnkd.in/g-CrSQYT

Elvie Strong has been a long time coming…I had my children 13 years ago and I experienced first hand just how little support there was for women’s pelvic floor health, especially postpartum. I also learned that this had a knock-on effect on women’s physical and mental wellbeing. I felt a real sense of injustice. Women were being ignored. Again.Fast forward to today and – to coincide with #WorldContinenceWeek – our latest app launch 🚀Empowering women with the tools to master your kegel technique, work your pelvic muscles smartly, and track your progress. Elvie Strong is free, because Pelvic floor health shouldn’t be a luxury.Click here to download the app for free. 👉 onelink.to/ak9bqd

On stage at Decoding the Future of Women, I was reflecting on how far femtech has come – when I founded Elvie eleven years ago, the word ‘femtech’ didn’t exist. But we had all eyes on the future, discussing femtech consumer of 2050 with Leila Thabet (who was breast pumping with her Elvie Curve during the panel!), Chantal Cox, Elena Rueda and Dr Michelle Griffin.Chantal summarised the challenge: "We need to excite and delight women with healthcare, we are still approaching them with speculums which are 100 years old!"The potential to do this with innovation, driven by technology, is vast.By 2050, developments in AI and the opportunity for hyper-personalisation will give us an unparalleled ability to diagnose and identify women’s health issues - and speed up access to education and treatment.I think Gen Z will demand more from their healthcare and technology experiences. This will bring more players in to the market and continue to disrupt decades-old industries, like Elvie did with the pelvic floor trainer and breast pump categories.I can't wait to see what's next. 🚀

She's conquered the world of athletics and now champions hormonal health education for every woman. Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill is truly a force of nature, and I was so lucky to get her insights into nutrition, exercise, and juggling it all with motherhood. Listen in to our conversation on the latest episode of Skin Like a Rhino now. 🎧

One in three women in the UK experience urinary incontinence three months after pregnancy, and one in seven experience anal incontinence six months after birth. One in 12 women report symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse.Poor pelvic health has a serious impact on quality of life, often leading to bladder weakness, reduced sexual pleasure or even prolapse. The £11m funding promised by the Government may sound significant but it amounts to just £18 per woman giving birth in the UK each year. When you consider the scale of the problem and the poor availability of treatment, that is simply not enough. You can read more in my open letter which is signed by Michelle Kennedy, Valentina Milanova 🇺🇦, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Dr Helen O'Neill, Siobhan Miller, Clare Bourne, Em Clarkson and other leaders across the worlds of health, business and sport - thank you for lending your support to this critical issue. We demand more. We deserve more. And we're going to ignite change.Read our Open Letter in full 👉 http://spr.ly/6043bHUCU

I loved talking to Liz Tenety, Co-founder of Motherly®, unpacking her experiences of the postpartum period and the reality of being a new mom in the US. We talk through how the support structures are holding women up - or failing to give them the support they deserve - and how America to do better to support women in this critical period.
