Not sure why, but Advanced Search on Gatherer is not working for me at all, on Chrome or Safari. Been 2 days at least.
Is there another good search engine I could use when looking for cards by rules text?

+1 for magiccards.info. Their advanced searching is great.

CardKingdom has a pretty good advanced search engine too, for whatever it may be worth a couple days later.
They just couldn't put 7th edition into Modern because of the card borders? Seriously? Count me out.

How do you do exclusions at magiccards.info? Like searching for "exile" without "creature".
I think the suggestion is to use "not" but that isn't working as I expect.

Gatherer is back up on Chrome for me. Their SE is the best imo and the exclusions are easy, drop down menus from the "and" buttons.

Does anyone know how to reference [cardname] in Gatherer?
I generally use Gatherer for searches, but if I want to do a search that involves a card self-referencing, I've thus far had to use magiccards.info.
For example, "~ deals" returns:
Abomination of Gudul ("Abomination of Gudul deals ...")
Abrade ("Abrade deals ...")
etc.

I wrote a program Mtgdb.Gui for advanced card search. It was for myself initially, so did my best to make the search as good as can humanly be.
It's free and opensource.

From the gatherer help:
You can specify field values for the current card using ::{field name}::. So, for example, to search the text field for the card's subtype, you would specify text = m/::subtype::/ , meaning "match any card whose subtype(s) are in its text box." The tilde (~) is an alias for ::name::.
So to use this to find the card's name in its text box, you put
m/::name::/
into the text field as a search term
Yeah, 5000 posts. Man, I'm old. Immortal One? Seems fitting.
